49er Gold Medal in doubt

The Gold medal won by the Jonas Warrer and Martin Kirketerp Ibsen (DEN) is under Protest following their change of boat for the Medal race after their mast broke.

International Sailing Federation spokesman David Knapman says the race measurement committee is protesting the finish, saying the two could not start in another country's boat.

If the Danes are disqualified after Sunday's race, Spain's Iker Martinez and Xabier Fernandez, winners of the medal race, will take the Gold and retain the title they won in Athens fours years ago.

The GBR pair are well outside the podium, no matter the result of the protest.
