The International Sailing Federation's (ISAF) best teams will fight it out to be ISAF Match Racing World Champion at the last event on the World Match Racing Tour schedule (WMRT) in Terengganu, Malaysia this December 2008.

Terengganu's Monsoon Cup takes place between December 3rd and 7th and has been the last event of the WMRT for the past two years. 'We are very honoured and proud to announce that the Monsoon Cup 2008 has been selected as the final leg of the World Match Racing Tour. It is going to be a thrilling finale.' Monsoon Cup Race Advisor Dato’ Peter Gilmour said.

Gilmour added that with the current points standing very close between the skippers, it will be an extremely tightly fought contest at the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia.

The 2007 WMRT Champion Ian Williams of Team Pindar and 2007 Monsoon Cup Winner is currently leading the pack after eight events on the tour. With a mere 4 points difference, he will definitely be facing stiff competition from close competitors Sebastian Col and Mathieu Richard to lift the Monsoon Cup and retain the championship title.

With the excitement of being the venue to crown the 2008 WMRT Champion, Tourism Malaysia has invited many international visitors and all Malaysians to Pulau Duyong, Kuala Terengganu to witness for themselves this sporting spectacle.

The top eight winners of the Monsoon Cup will get 1.5 times the points awarded to winners of other events in the Tour, motivating the teams to go all out to win the race.
