New leader at Dragon Gold Cup - Day 2

Russia’s Alexey Krylov with Vlad Kapitonov and Alexei Bushuev are the new Cascais Dragon Gold Cup leaders after second day of racing in the fantastic scenery of Cascais.

Britain’s Robert Campbell, Matt Walker and Jonathan Hill are second overall and Portuguese Manuel Champalimaud, Mark Hart and Ed Streeter are third. Ukrainian Eugeniy Braslavets and Portuguese Filipe Silva won the second day races.

A shiny day and wind, blowing from 6 to 8 knots, were the perfect conditions that the 74 Dragon fleet had for the 2nd of racing in Cascais.

On the 1st race, Ukraine’s Eugeniy Braslavets, Sergey TImokhov and Claus Olesen won. Gavia Wilkinson-Cox with Jon Mortimer and Ron Rosenberg from Great Britain were second and Frank Berg, Soren Nielsen and Soren Kaestel, from Denmark finished third.

The 2nd race was perfect for Filipe Silva, Joaquim Moreira and Miguel Pinto. The Portuguese crew started and finished first, dominating the race. Germany’s Philip Dohse, Oliver Mose and Jan Scharfetter and Great Britain’s Robert Campbell, Matt Walker and Jonathan Hill were 2nd and 3rd.

In general overall, regularity seems to be the secret, no one from the top three won a race, with Russia’s Alexey Krylov with Vlad Kapitonov and Alexei Bushuev being the new leaders followed by Great Britain’s Robert Campbell, Matt Walker and Jonathan Hill and Manuel Champalimaud, Mark Hart and Ed Streeter, from Portugal. Tomorrow the fleet will have 1 race, starting at 14:00h.
