2013 Aregentario Sailing Week - Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge day 2
Yet another sunny, warm summer day for day two of the 14th Argentario Sailing Week, part of the Mediterranean Circuit of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2013. Today’s winners are Skylark of 1937, (Vintage > 15mt), Sirius (Vintage < 15mt), Il Moro di Venezia (Classic > 15 mt), Sagittarius (Classic >12 mt), Namib (Classic < 12 mt), Wianno (Spirit of Tradition), and Mariette of 1915 (Big Boats).

After six races and a discard, Tara, owner MariaCristina Rapisarda, continues to lead in the 5.5 SI class with an impressive six consecutive victories.

On the race course the over 40 yachts from six nations had a very light westerly 6-8 knot breeze. Today Vintage, Classic, Spirit of Tradition and Big boat classes all sailed around the same 17 mile course: from Porto Santo Stefano up to Talamone, then rounding the mark and following the coastline along the Giannella beach. Yet another mark rounding, bow towards the Island of Giglio, mark and then back towards Porto Santo Stefano. The 5.5 SI class instead completed three windward-leeward races.

Back on shore sailors enjoyed an Oyster Cocktail with Bortolomiol sparkling wine while in the Panerai lounge appetizers and cocktails were being served as well. Tomorrow Sunday 16 June, the Prize giving Ceremony will be followed by a Farewell cocktail held at the Race Village in in Piazza dei Rioni.
