Volvo Ocean Race: Team Sanya arrives in Tauranga

Damage to Team Sanya’s rudder bearing. Team Sanya skippered by Mike Sanderson from New Zealand, arrive in Tauranga, New Zealand, after a broken rudder and hull damage forced them to sail back, during leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, from Auckland, New Zealand to Itajai, Brazil. They are now forced to retire from leg five and miss leg six of the race and ship their race boat and equipment to Miami.

Team Sanya, has arrived in the New Zealand port of Tauranga, after breaking a rudder shaft while leading Leg 5 of the Volvo Ocean Race, forcing her retirement from Leg 5. She will miss Leg 6, but will rejoin the race for Leg 7.

She ships out of New Zealand on Wednesday.

Gareth Cooke was on hand to catch the team's arrival in Tauranga.
