After 126 days 5 hrs 31 mins and 56 secs at sea Sedlacek crossed the Vendee Globe finish line off Les Sables d'Olonne at 17 hrs 33 min GMT. Norbert Sedlacek set a new ocean racing record for landlocked nation when he became the first Austrian to complete a solo non stop round the world passage when he finished the epic sixth edition of the Vendée Globe in 11th place.... Unlucky Friday 13th Crash for Vestas SailRocket and Paul Larsen

On Friday the 13th, the Vestas SailRocket team scheduled another world record attempt, which resulted in Vestas Sailrocket crashing at high speed and injuries to Paul Larsen. Larsen was hospitalised, but later released. Larsen was shaken but is determined to carry on.... [more]

For the Portimão Global Ocean Race fleet, freedom from the restriction of the ice gate at 45°S has been stalled by a low pressure system north of the boats, centred 1,200 miles off the coast of Chile. It was 21 years ago that the concept of ARC Europe first came to fruition when the inaugural event, then named 'TransARC', set off in 1988.
