HISC revive Round Hayling Island Race

Volvo Ocean Race finish time stretches, food supplies short on Leg 5

Predictions made four days ago that the Volvo Ocean race would finish on 24 March UTC, now appear to be rather optimistic as the leaders are beset by light winds which will last all the way to the finish off Rio de Janeiro. The race is now expected to finish at least a day later.... [more]

In the latest 0620 GMT Sunday position poll (22/03), the two race leaders, Desafio Cabo de Hornos and Beluga Racer have passed the Falkland Islands obstruction and are reaching north-east with the Chilean duo of Felipe Cubillos and José Muñoz maintaining a 60 mile lead over Boris Herrmann and Felix Oehme during the past 24 hours.... New Zealand has successfully defended its world championship team event title at the IFDS World Blind Sailing Championships sailed on Rotorua this week. Itlay and Great Britain won the B1 and B3 events respectively. New Zealand wins the 2009 title after securing a gold in the B2 fleet, and two silver medals in the B1 and B3 fleets.... [more]

Since her launching after the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, Emirates Team New Zealand 's TP52 has been a regular sight on the Waitemata Harbour as she works up against another newly launched TP52 Artemis, before both are shipped to Europe for competition on the Med Cup Circuit. Italy and NZ lead in B1 at IFDS World Blind Sailing Champs

Norway has lost the overall lead in the B1 fleet of the World Blind Sailing Championships for the first time since racing started in Rotorua on Sunday. Four races were sailed on Lake Rotorua today pushing Italy into the lead in the B1 fleet on 20 points, followed by the New Zealand team on 25 points. Norway follows closely, rounding off the top three with 26.5 points.... [more]
