In the latest instalment of the America's Cup soap opera, Alinghi want to hold the next match in Ras al Khaimah, UAE, a well-known hotbed of yachting tradition. You can bet that the Ellison camp won't take that lying down! We also hear that next year's Melbourne Gold Cup is being run in Bangkok, the US Masters will be played in Lusaka and the Tour de France is moving to Montevideo.

But rest assured that the Phuket King's Cup 2009 will take place in Phuket, as per normal schedule. Some traditions are too good to mess around with. Entries are now open, see below.

Alinghi confirm Ras al-Khaimah as the venue for the America's Cup

The America's Cup Defender, Alinghi, and its yacht club, the Société Nautique de Genève, today announced the venue for the 33rd America's Cup in February 2010. Entries now open for 23rd Phuket King's Cup Regatta
