Well, Mother Nature is letting us know she's about – 40 dead in Samoa and Western Samoa from a tsunami.
Of course in a tsunami you are safer offshore than on the beach or marina.

Today the second episode on the problems of E-10 in boats, if you ever fuel an outboard motor this is compulsory reading. Really, I mean it compulsory.

Things are hotting up again on the Class 1 World Offshore championship again with Lake Maggiore, Italy, the venue next weekend.

The Maritimo Offshore Race Team left for Italy earlier this week, with Tom Barry-Cotter, driver of the team's 1 boat ‘Maritimo 11' keen to continue his climb up the championship ladder from his current third placing.

Plenty of news, too, on the P1 Powerboat front, while in Queensland organisers are making preparations for the Bundaberg 2009 Wide Bay Bundy Thunder, where the ‘cream of the crop' of flat bottoms, unlimited displacements, blown alcohol, you name it, if it floats and if it's quick it will be at Bundaberg.

Joe Goddard, an old pal from way back, is back in Australia after a stint in marina design in Dubai and has opened a ‘boutique' marine dealership at Tweed Heads, just over the border from Queensland.

Now, this may not have a powerboat connection, but Jessica Watson, that most determined young lady (schoolgirl, really) is this week sea trialling her yacht, ‘Ella's Pink Lady', determining if all is ready for her to take on the world.

Jessica hopes to become the youngest sailor to ever circle the globe solo and unassisted.

Would I attempt something like that? Not a ghost of a chance!

You go, Jessica, do it for the rest of us.

Bob Wonders,
E10, ethanol blended gasoline, stands poised to hand plenty of problems to unsuspecting boat owners.
