It's the week before Christmas, so that means there are a lot of serious sailors in Australia getting ready for the Rolex Sydney-Hobart Race, which starts on Boxing Day. Grant Wharington is hoping he'll have a mast in his boat (Etihad Stadium) and local hopeful Drew Taylor from the RHKYC, on board Chutzpah, will be hoping that this time they won't be the bridesmaids – again.

We don't usually get a great deal of sailing news out of the Philippines, but that looks like changing. Sailing activities have shifted from the Manila Yacht Club to the Subic Bay Yacht Club, and the SAGS (Saturday Afternoon Gentlemen's Sailing) group, and all of a sudden the communications have opened up. Hooray! Check below for the prelim NOR of the Subic Bay Commodore's Cup and the Subic-Boracay Race... which is followed by the Boracay Cup and the WestPac Hobie champs. All of a sudden it's all happening in the Philippines – keep the info coming, chaps!

Anyone who would like us to be carrying news of their Club activities – either notices of forthcoming events or race reports straight after can submit stories and pictures via the ‘Submit News and Pics' button on the top right of the Sail-World Asia website. We welcome your input!

There's plenty more in this newsletter, from the forthcoming Horsburgh Challenge to the inaugural Muscat Khasab race and the current state of the America's Cup soap opera, so take a moment to get up to date with the sailing news from Asia and around the world.
