Sail-World Canada Partners with Spirit of Canada

Sail-World Canada, Canadian Yachting's newest online web site and newsletter, is pleased to participate in the continuing Canadian Yachting legacy and become an integral component of Derek Hatfield's Spirit of Canada Eco 60 campaign for the upcoming Velux 5 Oceans Challenge. Stay tuned to this website and remain on top of Derek's progress, before and during the race.

In Singapore, Canada's Cape Breton Island is still celebrating their victory in the last race, but everyone is getting ready for the next race; approximately 20 days at sea en route to the next stop-over, where the temperatures will continue to drop as the fleet approaches China and their destination, the Olympic sailing centre at Qingdao, which will be a familiar sight to anyone who watched the sailing events at the Beijing 2008 Games.

All but two of 13 classes were told to stand by on land on day 2 of the US SAILING's 2010 Rolex Miami OCR, the second of seven stops of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Sailing World Cup 2009-2010 . The Florida weather remains uncertain this winter; what started as a beautiful day deteriorated rapidly with thunderstorms over Biscayne Bay. Race officials cancelled racing to ensure the safety of over 600 sailors representing 45 nations.
