The 2010 Top of the Gulf Regatta is just over the horizon - a mere 13 days away. It's the penultimate event of the Asian Yachting Grand Prix series, and there's just one point separating leaders Neil Pryde and Ray Roberts. With a strong Racing class fleet lining up, we can expect the very best kind of fireworks.

The Rolex China Sea Race proceedings have to come to an end for another two years, with the Official Prizegiving at the RHKYC. Neil Pryde collected more silverware than he could carry, and it was HiFi's performance in this race and in the Subic Commodore's Cup that put him within striking distance of Evolution Racing's position at the top of the AYGP table. "The series is having the effect that I always wanted," said AY's Capt Marty Rijkuris, "driving more boats to more Asian regattas." No complaints there.

The China (Shanghai) International Boat is also over for another year, with dealers and exhibitors reporting good sales figures and lots of positive 'networking'.

And there's the International news, too...

China (Shanghai) International Boat Show – needs water.
Guy Nowell, Sail-World Asia,
Many exhibitors expressed the opinion that there were fewer visitors to the Show this year than in 2009, but that the ‘quality' of those visitors was better. 'Five years ago we were being asked where the life jackets were stored,' one motor yacht dealer told us. 'Now we are being asked about power trains and fuel range. That's progress.'... [more]

China (Shanghai) International Boat Show Charity Regatta
Alistair Skinner,
All classes were racing on the same piece of water and one unusual instruction in the Notice of Race was that the Optimists, the children's class, were to be given right of way, even if they should be the 'give way' boat.
