The yards of marinas and yacht clubs throughout the Greater Toronto Area are abuzz with activities as boat owners are finally getting ready for launch; it's been a mild winter for most but spring launch never comes early enough. Racing schedules have been posted and cruising plans are being completed; we'll see you on the water soon!
In the Clipper Round the World event, Team Finland has now arrived at San Francisco Marina and is safely in the harbour following a much delayed crossing of the Pacific The crew were in great spirits and gave Cape Breton Island three rousing cheers after the Canadian team headed out to meet the Finnish entry last night; pizza was transferred across in the darkness. The next leg starts today and will take the fleet to a crossing of the Panama Canal on their way to Port Antonio, Jamaica.

Canadians Richard Clarke and Tyler Bjorn have just won the 2010 Star Western Hemisphere Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas. They dominated in Montagu Bay's heavy winds and frothy seas during the early races in the series. Their sixth place finish in Saturday's fifth race in light air clinched the series, yet they sailed the final race, because, as Clarke said, 'We need the practice.'

Lake Ontario 300 April Update Brian Townsend, Attendance for this year's Lake Ontario 300 is well on its way to being another record-breaking year in more ways than one. To date there are 110 paid registrants, an increase of 25% from last year at this time. The total number of yachts competing last year was 172, which was a 35% increase from 2008. Clipper Round the World Yacht race - Team Finland in San Francisco Clipper Ventures, It was an early morning arrival in to San Francisco for Team Finland, and although the sun had yet to rise, the crew were treated to a warm welcome by a crowd of family members and fellow crew.
