Boat launching is upon us!

The yards of marinas and yacht clubs throughout the Greater Toronto Area are abuzz with activities as boat owners are finally getting ready for launch; it's been a mild winter for most but spring launch never comes early enough. Racing schedules have been posted and cruising plans are being completed; we'll see you on the water soon!

In the Clipper Round the World event, Team Finland has now arrived at San Francisco Marina and is safely in the harbour following a much delayed crossing of the Pacific The crew were in great spirits and gave Cape Breton Island three rousing cheers after the Canadian team headed out to meet the Finnish entry last night; pizza was transferred across in the darkness. The next leg starts today and will take the fleet to a crossing of the Panama Canal on their way to Port Antonio, Jamaica.

Still don't read much about your local event or yacht club; don't hesitate to tap you media person on the shoulder and gently point out the 'submit banner' on the top of the news on every single page on our site!

Canadians Richard Clarke and Tyler Bjorn have just won the 2010 Star Western Hemisphere Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas. They dominated in Montagu Bay's heavy winds and frothy seas during the early races in the series. Their sixth place finish in Saturday's fifth race in light air clinched the series, yet they sailed the final race, because, as Clarke said, 'We need the practice.'

Or, you can submit your event/regatta/class/boat news yourself by Clicking Here. Have a read of our Contributors Guidelines - if you suffer from writer's block - we've got the pointers to quickly get you through.

Many thanks for your help and input, we're here to help the entire sailing community!
