Boating News from the Asia-Pacific and beyond

Well, looks like offshore powerboat racing in Australia has hit what might be termed ‘a jackpot'. We can announce exclusively that Steve Curtis, MBE, the sport's number one throttleman and holder of eight Class one World Championships, is scheduled to race in Australia with his current team, Qatar 96 driver, Sheilk Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani.

The pair will take on Australia's best at Mackay Townsville in two rounds of the Offshore Superboat Championships in late June, early July. Still on offshore racing, the Super Boat International Miami Grand Prix was called off after only two laps due to horrendous seas pounding in off the Atlantic Ocean.

We publish some great images sent to us by Rodrick Cox, don't miss checking them out.

Up in Singapore, my favourite South-East Asian city, plans are well advanced for the formation of an Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association.

Back to offshore racing, and the New Zealand Offshore Powerboats compete this weekend for the Stace Hopper Memorial Cup at Marsden Cove.

And for those likely to visit the 2010 Sydney International Boat Show, you'll be among the first to see Yanmar's exciting new stern drive unit, the ZT350, set for an Australian release at the show.

That's only the cream on the cake – as usual, if it's happening on the waterways of the world and if it's well, interesting, right here on the Powerboat-World site is where you'll be kept right up-to-date.

Enjoy the stop over and keep us firmly in mind whenever you're wandering the web.
