Plenty to ponder, Peter Isler, Navigator, TEAMORIGIN. Ian Roman/TEAMORIGIN
Welcome to Sail-World.com's USA newsletter for 22 May 2010.
After a brief time-out the sail racing world fired up again yesterday and overnight with the Louis Vuitton Trophy getting off to a stutter start in La Maddalena, Sardinia. And, the second round of the World Match Racing Tour is through to the Quarter Finals in Germany.
We have reports on all these events in this edition of Sail-World.
Coming up we can expect some fireworks.
The British continued their string of woeful international performances, with a spinnaker snafu costing then the lead in the Louis Vuitton Trophy. This is make or break time for TeamOrigin having despatched their Director, Mike Sanderson, earlier in the week, on the back of a similar series of errors in the first Louis Vuitton Trophy in Auckland and then in the first round of the Audi MedCup in Cascais.
Sanderson took the rap for that. Still the errors continue. What or who is next? We'll be following the fortunes of TeamOrigin very carefully in Sardinia, and beyond, to see if the team that has so much promise and so much talent, can deliver a strong overall result.

There's some other very interesting stories in this issue, including the second part of the interview with Phil Jones, who presented the ISAF Olympic Commission report to the Mid Year meeting of the ISAF. If you haven't read the report - take the time to read. The ramifications will go far and deep - and have to - if Yachting is to retain its Olympic position after 2016.
