Kieler Woche, Safran sets new record and more sailing news

Welcome to Sail-World.com's European newsletter.

Kieler Woche, the final stage of this year's ISAF Sailing World Cup is underway, with organisers claiming the ISAF Sailing World Cup is in crisis.

Safran and crew claimed a new Round Britain and Ireland record and France's Francois Gabart, a rising star on the Figaro circuit is set to take on the Vendee Globe.

The Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series 2011 wound up in Porto Cervo, Italy with Joe Woods Red taking victory, while at the Audi MedCup Marseille Trophy, the Spanish Iberdrola Team dominated the 40 series.

Newport J Class Regatta weekend report - The third race was critical for Velsheda, as Ranger held a 2-0 lead in the five race series. With Friday's racing postponed, two races were held on Saturday in bright skies with a strong 15 knot South Easterly into the Newport Harbour entrance.
