Gilly going well, Lasers, Volvo and a slew of upcoming events

CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand, skippered by Chris Nicholson from Australia, arrive into Galway to a huge spectator crowd, after winning leg 9 of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, from Lorient, France to Galway, Ireland. (Credit: IAN ROMAN/Volvo Ocean Race)  Ian Roman/Volvo Ocean Race©

The Volvo Ocean Race comes to a conclusion on Saturday, local time with the final InPort Race, which will determine the winner of the overall InPort Trophy. Currently, Camper sailed by Emirates Team NZ, skipperedholson by Aussie Chris Nichoson is tied at the top of the points table with Puma, skippered by Ken Read, and with Groupama one point behind. Abu Dhabi is four points astern of the two lead boats and only has a mathematical chance, to win.

If they are able to win the InPort Trophy, Camper will have come away with that title, plus they have also won the speed record trophy, and look set to finish second overall. While that is obviously not a win – it is a good haul of three of the four primary overall trophies.

Keep your eye on Madi; she is very serious about her racing. We will be covering the Laser Radials Mens Worlds at RQ next week before heading OS.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the organising authority for the 68th edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, and Rolex SA of Geneva, the race's naming rights sponsor, have announced the release of the Notice of Race and now invite Applications for Entry.

Lots of news so we will stand aside and let you enjoy it.
