The on water management was excellent with Denis Thompson and his experienced team delivering the goods as always. This year event brought Michael Spies onboard to fine tune the handicapping for the PHS and Cruising fleets.

Quite some on land changes at this year's event and the concentration of the Social events at Peppers Blue on Blue was a roaring success.

Read about this event and put it on your calendar for 2013. It has enormous growth potential with a wide range of accommodation options. Once you've done this regatta you will wish you'd not been missing this event in years gone by.

Now it's time to head south. It still true that nothing it seems goes to windward like Boeing

The next big event on the regatta circuit is the Heaven Can Wait Regatta on Lake Macquarie.

The Heaven Can Wait One Lap Dash, 12 hour race and 24 hour race start off the Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto at 11am on Saturday 28th

With the Swansea channel now dredged out to an amazing three metres the number of keelboats coming up from Sydney for this great event should increase.

A heavy squall hit final competitors in the last hours of the Heaven Can Wait 24-hour yacht race on Lake Macquarie, Sunday 2 October 2011.  Greg Dickins

Sail-World has run an amazing sequence of images of the Kiwi AC72 in full foiling mode. If you've not seen them before have a good look now.

More news from Weymouth on the Australians at the Paralympic Sailing event with Gold looming large for Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch..

Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch have extended their lead at the London 2012 Paralympic Games  David Staley - IFDS ©

Regrettably right now we are leaving north Queensland on another cool spring day. Just 27 degrees again. More when we make it south on and put a jacket back on.

Ahead of us is a great Australian summer, with the Middle Harbour Short Ocean series, the Sydney Hobart, Pittwater Coffs, Festival of Sailing and a host of State and Australian dinghy titles and then we are looking forward to the Sydney Harbour regatta.

We will have an exclusive report on the 2013 Hempel Gosford to Lord Howe Race over the weekend.

Good sailing
