While on the topic of multihull, the America's Cup AC 72 yachts are still in the news; Oracle is busy with two-boat testing in San Francisco Bay while courtroom and legal proceedings have not lead to a resolution regarding proposed new schedule and race format for the summer series. Stay tuned as Sail-World's Richard Gladwell keeps his ear to the ground and brings the latest developments. In the meantime, don't miss Red Bull's Media House first of six video episode for a behind the scene look at the teams competing in the 34th America's Cup.

Sail-World Canada is always proud to bring you stories from around the world, as a result you can expect to find more francophone stories as they are originally shared from French event organizers. We hope you enjoy them; don't forget to use our built-in Google translate feature if you wish to read the stories in English . Congratulations to Yann Elies, overall winner of the 44th edition of La Solitaire du Figaro; possibly the most popular single-handed one-design event in France, the Solitaire always brings together a talented fleet of skippers. This year was no different with the likes of Beyou, Desjoyeaux and Le Cléac'h sharing the start lines with many newcomers.

In more local offshore racing circles, the second leg of the Bermuda 1-2 race is winding down in light air; congratulations to Lake Ontario sailor Bert Barret on Upstart! The biennial Marblehead to Halifax will see over 75 yachts on the start line on July 7th; as can be expected, many of them hail from Nova Scotia ports and will enjoy the return trip home. Yachts will be racing in IRC and PHRF, including a PHRF Cruising division. The action moves to Lake Ontario the following week with the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge where the event organizers have listened to racers and are mixing things up a bit to this year; the traditional lake circumnavigation rectangular course has been replaced with a figure-eight course using the same marks but offering more challenging offshore legs. Over one hundred yachts have already registered from the new test of sailing skills.
