Quicksilver 705 at SIBS, scholarship for Marina course, new AIMEX site

As wildfires rock parts of the US, we on the east coast seem to have spent the past 10 days mopping up from a battering of winter storms, and in NZ, a once in a lifetime snow in Auckland! What a tumultuous world!

Nothing can stop the news though, and we have a deluge of that this week! As well as some awesome and innovative products, some you may have seen, others that will blow your socks off, we have industry events, shows, opportunities and even a scholarship available thanks to Superior, covering all course costs for the upcoming Intermediate Marina Management (IMM), a four-day course to be held on the Gold Coast, August 4-8.

Hosted by the MIA in partnership with the Global Marina Institute the course suits people in the marina industry such as marina operators, manufacturers, contractors, consultants and service providers, and is an essential course in a career path leading to the Certified Marina Manager, Certified Marina Operator and Certified Marina Professional Certification - a globally recognised qualification. AIMEX new website  AIMEX ©
AIMEX has launched its all-new interactive website at www.aimex.asn.au, featuring an easily navigated and informative Business Directory, detailing the key players in the Australian marine export industry - invaluable for raising the profile of members.

The new site uses the latest technology available with a multi-platform compatibility (computer, tablet, smartphone) and greater ability to profile member products and services via the new image gallery in the Business Directory and featured member section on the home page.

Plenty of new models are due to be launched at the upcoming Sydney International Boat Show, 1-4 August at Darling Harbour, among them the elegant Grand Banks 59 Aleutian RP, and the sporty, compact and covetable Quicksilver 705 Cruiser.

An outboard driven, versatile family boat with room enough for eight, the Quicksilver 75 has creature comforts onboard.

Quicksilver Activ 705  Collins Marine

Peter Collins from Collins Marine promises the 705 will generate a lot of interest, particularly with its price point!

On the Gold Coast, we are hoping for a break in the weather to enjoy the last week of the school hols out on the water. It has been too wet and blustery, so thank goodness for craft activities, DVDs and a trip out to sea on a big boat, whale watching!

Whales on the Gold Coast  .. ©

The Humpbacks are in town, right up the Queensland coast to Hervey Bay where they give birth - one of life's mysteries. If you have the chance, get out on a whale watching cruise. The season runs until early November. The Gold Coast's only Eco-Certified whale watching vessel, Gold Coast Island Adventures (formally Tallship Island Adventures) runs an impressive 32m wave piercing luxury catamaran out beyond the breakers to witness up close and personal, the migration and frolicking of these colossal mammals.
