Adventures,misadventures,ICE, invasive sealife,NZ 2 OZ rally announced

Some quite quirky stories – about the shipwrecked sailor who saved the Jack Russell and forgot the wife, and about the family that escaped America by sailing boat and got hopelessly lost in the Pacific Ocean for months...

If you are SEEKING adventure, New Zealanders should read about the new NZ 2 OZ rally to join the Sail 2 Indonesia rally in 2014. Not adventurous enough? In another article the Russian North East Passage is beckoning – read why.

North East Passage - a top adventure  .. .

Nice to see the Elan 400 nominated for the European Yacht of the Year, but performance is up to the crew as well - in another article you have to ask what a two-year-old Hylas 70 was doing with such bad navigation advice that they tried to sail over rocks four feet below when they drew seven feet.

On a more practical level, ICE (no not the Amphetamine) is featured this week. It might turn out to be expensive for the cruising sailor, but as time passes these new innovations tend to become more and more affordable. Worth also reading is the article on the new Gen 2 furler.

Then there's Neil Langford sharing his experiences in how to cope with the invasions of sealife in warm waters, and John Jamieson with more 'heavy weather' strategies.

Blocked on the left, but see the oyster growing on the right  .. .

Much more too, so browse down the headlines to see what grabs your interest.

Winter is proving to be a warm one, so take every opportunity!

Here's wishing you sweet winter sailing.
