Of Hammo, Maggie and the AC

We´ve been out on the softest race track at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, where Marcus Blackmore´s TP52 Hooligan has won the first three IRC races sailed by the top end fleet and the damage wreaked to the aspirations of other owners and crew this owner and boat has exhibited over recent years on the Australian circuit looks set to continue.

TP52 Hooligan set about taking the AUDI IRC National Championship for the second time on seven months. - Audi IRC Australian Championships  John Curnow ©

Blackmore set out in 2011 to win the IRC Nationals. He consulted with Cloud´s Badham about the average wind speeds across the courses and configured the former Emirates Team New Zealand TP52, now Hooligan, for those conditions. Then he added a very talented team.

Surprise, surprise he won and has kept winning. He won the Australian Championships and Audi Hamilton Island Race Week in 2011, 2012 and is on track for 2013.

We talked to the Vitamin King dockside at the 2013 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.

While the big boats ghost around the Whitsundays, Sail Townsville starts this weekend ahead of 2013 SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week and Sail-World will be on the Strand...

SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week 2012  Emma Kennedy SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week 2012

Magnetic Island numbers are level with last year, with entries still be accepted. We will be bringing you all the news as it happens from must do regatta. It's not too later for boats at Hamilton Island to head north to Magnetic. For more information at www.magneticislandraceweek.com.au.

America's Cup 2013  Chuck Lantz ©

Oh and there is a thing called the America´s Cup, Fisher, Gladwell, Lantz and Navas are covering it.

The traffic is wild, it's quite possible that by the finals, Sail-world will be in the top 60 site in New Zealand and world-wide Sail-World will be reconfirmed as the number one sailing site.
