Northwest Passage Yachts trapped, zaniest yacht club, dinghy cruising

For comic relief you should read about the recent Shag Islet Club Rendezvous – a rendezvous for one of the zaniest sailing clubs in the world – but certainly celebrating the egalitarianism which is a feature of all good cruising communities.

Most of us who go cruising, particularly longer range cruising, think of ourselves as the marine version of snails, sailing our comfortable home with us wherever we go. But what about the dinghy cruisers – a hardy bunch, profiled in an interesting article this week from Britain's Royal Yachting Association.

Dinghy cruising - always an adventure  .. .

Stokey Woodall Atlantic Circuit Rally is holding valuable cruising preparation seminars; there's a timely reminder about how to care for the pet you take sailing with you; we show some of the splendid sailing craft showing at this year's so-glamorous Monaco Yacht Show; and there's an inspiring tale of a solo sailor, rolled at Cape Horn on his last aborted attempt, who has just set out to do it all again.

Read on, enjoy, and

Here's wishing you sweet sailing!
