The beginning of another sweltering southern summer . . . our hearts go out to those impacted by the NSW fires.
It's a great time of year to be on the water, but there's no joy, particularly in the lead up to Christmas, when so many families are under threat or have lost property and possessions because of these severe infernos.
A land of floods and fires is our Australia and we seem to be reeling from one to the next.
In news this week, AIMEX is flying the flag for Australian companies and products, responding to member demand for further profile in the US by securing space at the Miami International Boat Show, 13-17 February 2013.

This is on top of the strong presence AIMEX has in Singapore, Europe (METS and Monaco), Taiwan, China (Shanghai), Dubai and South Korea. The addition of Miami complements their presence at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show as the Miami show has a more retail market focus which is of appeal to a segment of their membership.

Also working hard, the team at Sanctuary Cove, with prospective exhibitors invited to apply for space for the 2014 boat show from tomorrow. There are some major innovations and new format for exhibition space and fee structure for next year's event, all designed to support exhibitors involved in one of the region's most significant boat shows.
Loads of product news, plenty of achievements, awards and opinions. Also, your chance to sail in the 2013 Rolex Sydney to Hobart - just by donating $25 and uploading your photo to Faceboat, a fundraising initiative of Australian charity Sailors with disABILITIES (SWD).
What a fantastic looking boat this will be! Not only a great way to raise awareness and funds, but there's the chance you could win a berth onboard the Faceboat entry in the Sydney to Hobart - a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us and I would hazard a guess, it's on the bucket list of nearly all of us!
